Choosing a Wedding Photographer

When it comes to a wedding ceremony, it is something that you wouldn’t want to compromise anywhere, especially when it comes to capturing the best moments of the day to cherish for the rest of your life. Asian weddings are a rage in the UK, and there are also a number of wedding services that are available, all designed to make your wedding the most splendid ceremony of your love life. It is important to keep a few things in mind while you are at it.

What to look for in the prospective photographer –

•    Experience – It is important that you check if the photographer has done weddings before. He/she must be familiar with the proceedings. For example, for an Indian wedding, you would want the various events and rituals captured with their essences in full expression.

•    Style of photography – You should also be able to understand if the photographer’s style of photography is something that suits the idea of your wedding ceremony, especially if you are planning for a themed wedding. Certain styles of photography may be suited for an Arabic wedding, and certain others for an Indian wedding.

•    Will you get the right person on the day – It’s happened quite a few times. The photographer you’ve had a talk with, who understands exactly what you are looking for may not arrive on the day of the wedding ceremony. He/she might send somebody else from the firm, whom you may not find an easy deal.

•    Grooming – The photographer will always be expected to be well behaved with your guests. A friendly photographer will always strike a chord with his/her subjects. Especially in traditional South Asian weddings, mistreating or insulting an elderly person can be an issue of social respect for the host.

•    Understanding the cost of the project – You might get a brilliant photographer but what he charges must be explained. Also, know if any extra costs would be included later on.

•    Is the photographer familiar with the ceremony location – An additional benefit with the photographer being familiar with your ceremony location is that he would take less time to figure out the shots. Therefore there is always a chance of some additional flare that he can plan, even beforehand.

•    Understanding the contract – It is important to understand your contract with the photographer. Important points may be:

o    Do you get the negative
o    Taxes, travel, services to be clarified
o    An explanation of what happens if the photographer does not show up
o    Deposit details, how much you owe and by when

Things to make sure from your side –

As a planner for an Asian wedding in the UK, it is essential that you keep in mind the photographer’s possible unfamiliarity with the rituals, essence and proceedings of the wedding ceremony. Introducing your family and friends, who will attend the ceremony, to the photographer also makes it a lot easier for the photographer when he is on the job.
